How do I flash it?

You must be on a safe kernel and recovery. If you are not sure, check this thread out to see which ones are safe!


If coming from previous Nightmare Du 4.4.2 or official Omni 4.4.2 and you want to do a dirty install:

1. boot into recovery
2. flash the Rom
4. reboob

If coming from previous Nightmare DU 4.4.2 and you'd like a clean flash:

1. boot into recovery
2. do a full wife
3. flash the Rom
5. reboob

If coming from anywhere else:
1. download Raw r4 kernel from here, download the latest SuperSU from here.
2. copy Gapps, Raw kernel, SuperSU and Nightmare DU Zips to your SDCard
3. reboob into Recovery
4. flash Raw kernel
5. reboob recovery

once in a while on all samsung phones it doesnt do it on first boot for some reason
and you get unknown csc with *#1234*
to save having to flash the whole rom again to fix it and writing around 2gb to nand
just flash the cache partition and it should apply the csc on first boot

Current build cannot display internal memory's size properly.
Settings will display 2GB.
Visit /sdcard using apps like 'Root explorer' to workaround this issue.
** When internal memory is completely out-of-order, do a full reboot.
It is known to be happening when the device has performed a first boot after installation.

- How-to-install -
Flash custom recovery; CWM_Recovery_SH.tar using Odin.
Enter CWM recovery and do a full data wipe, flash the correct ROM file and gapps in order from the CWM recovery.
Reboot again after first boot.

So....., are you bored of having to move apps to SD?

Bored of facing a stock issue of not even being able to move apps to your internal SD?

This thread will help you, currently only for n7000 16gb Model only.


I have only made one version so far, increasing the data partition to 4gb (from 2gb), this is at the expense of 2gb less internal sd storage.

I will consider more variants on request :)


GUIDE

The usual rules apply, You will:


Lose all data on your phone, therefore backup anything essential including both internal and external memory and any settings or configuration, i.e. you are starting from fresh! You are warned, this will be like coming home with a new phone, except a hell of a lot more useful now we can control this essential element! :)

You know this already because your an XDA user :)


So what do you have to do? Read on for my guide:


IMPORTANT: Please backup all your photos, videos and other important stuff on your PC, in the cloud or somewhere else where it is safe, as all your stuff on your internal SD card will be deleted!


1) Run compatible version of Odin, put your phone in to download mode (vol down/home/power button) and connect to PC via USB



2) Tick re-partition box

3) Click PIT button and select the pit file of your desired app partition size.

4a) Click PDA and select your stock official samsung jellybean rom - Edit- please remember if you use a rom that is not native to your region, it would be wise to flash the appropriate radio modem afterwards to ensure you get the signal strength you'd expect :)

4b) OR Flash your persnonal choice of kernel in *.tar format and pit file, reboot to CWM ( power button/vol up/home button) and install new rom or restore nandroid and boot as normal and skip to number 9 in this guide

5) Flash and wait for reboot

6) Let the phone reboot and wait until the android chap finishes his spinny wire ball belly animation and then remove the battery and do a factory reset using the usual power/vol up/ home trick.

7) Let it boot so you can check that you are happy with the result. ( I didn't, but you might want to)

8) Now flash your chosen rooted kernel and either stick with stock rom or enter CWM and flash your own custom rom.

9) When your phone boots, you may get a notification to format usb storage, say yes if prompted! If it that fails, connect you phone to your PC and format the the internal sd card manually.

10) Remember that Android likes automatically deciding where apps go, so sometime it tries to put stuff to SD itself (app requests it), it is worthwhile checking your installed apps to makes sure they went to internal app partition, you can tell this by either:

a) Look in Titanium back up, go to the move/integrate section and see if any apps show as moveable from SD to internal, if so run the batch process to put them on your nice new app partition, otherwise you may have issues running those apps.

b) If you don't have Titanium (why not?) then check the harder way by looking at app manager and swipe to the right to look at SD app, sort by size and then individually move ones back to internal storage.


11) That easy! Here is a shot of my resulting app manager

Hello Friends,

I am no developer, just an Android lover. I share with you my first custom kernel for Note N7000 JB building from sources. It was made mainly for my hobby and my own needs, but hopefully can be useful to other members.

Forest-HelloWorld-Make-II kernel

As the name suggested, it is essentially a continuity of the C.O.H HelloWorld kernel.

FEATURES:

Features added by me (in additions to features found in c.o.h's kernel):
- Kernel linux version 3.0.31, build using Ubuntu 13.10
- Toolchains: CodeSourcery G++
- Exfat native support (Now you can enjoy unlimited file size and fast speed on ext-sdcard)
- Some optimization of the config file
- Su binary is updated to the latest version.
- Made two version: 1) With GPU overclock with three steps as in the COH kernel and 2) With stock GPU.

Features benefited from C.O.H kernel:
- CPU Hotplug support from Speedmod kernel (only 1 core when not in load, battery friendly)
- Disabled logcat and dmesg and unnecessary Samsung debugging.
- UV capability.
- Increased Touchscreen sensitivity even when charging (Best touch response to date in Note).
- FSYNC Control 1 (from Ezekeel's GLaDOS kernel for Nexus).
- Tweak GPU in GPU OC version: 133, 267, 400 MHz (3 steps),
- Many cpu governors and schedullers: Defaults are Hyper-Row now (You can also tried noop-pegasusq as recommended by C.O.H)
- Fix for wifi drain on standby (disabled all multicast).
- Speedmod K5-3 fixes included
- Other features are the same as in c.o.h’s HelloWorld Kernel.

The kernel is very smooth, stable and battery friendly. I actually prefer the GPU OC version. It allows me to play some graphic intensive games smoothly and the temperature is still at good level. On the otherhand, stock GPU is certainly more battery friendly.

Still, you can try out both versions and see which one you like. Give each of them at least a day or two to play with so that you can really see the differences.

For those who also want CPU OC you can use Tegrak or a similar app from G-play.
I hope, this gives enough options


CHANGELOGS:

- Leave out some Governors, keep only 5: Hyper, Performance, Ondemand, Pegasusq, and SmartassV2.
- Leave out I/O Schedulers, keep only 5: Row, Sio, Noop, Cfq and Deadline.
- Paddling zImage to the full size of the Kernel partition, 838808 bytes (Thanks to the trick by Chenglu and PhilZ!) this should help make the flash of kernel always clean.

How to Enable ART
(Note that ART is experimental at this point)

 

Go to Settings, Developer Options, Select Runtime and choose Use ART.
If prompted with a CyanogenMod disclaimer pop-up, tap OK to proceed with the ART conversion.
System will reboot. The reboot (including "Optimizing Apps") will take a LONG time as the system
converts to ART, so be patient

INTRODUCTION

I've been flashing for a while now (Since G1) and XDA is my main lurking place. And it seems recently I can't find any lite TW ROMs (Which I like most) so I guess it should be about time I contribute a little something... even though it ain't much. This is very likely a one off thing until comes a time I have something to share again... so no frequent updates because it takes alot of time and I'm a really lazy bastard.

Technically TWL ROM is a simple stripped down stock ROM. No extra features, no eye candies and no extra tweaks. Just plain, dark, light TouchWiz ROM.

HOW TO INSTALL
1. Download the latest Philz Kernel.
(Preferably PhilZ-cwm6-XXLTA-ATL-5.15.0-signed.zip or later)
2 On CWM Recovery, Install Philz Kernel. Reboot Recovery.
(Advanced -> Reboot Recovery)
3. On CWM Recovery again, Go to Wipe Data/Factory Reset -> Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
4. Go to Mounts and Storage -> Format /system
5. Go to Mounts and Storage -> Format /preload
6. Install TWLv1.6LTC.zip
7. Reboot System.


RECOMMENDED
1. Flash Forest-HelloWorld-Make-II kernel for JB N7000 if you want a little more power and battery life. Awesome work by forest1971.
2. If you don't use multi window (I never used it in everyday life, not sure why), you can delete; FlashAnnotate.apk | FlashAnnotateSvc.apk | FlashBarService.apk (It will free up 20MB+ of RAM).
3. Give DigiCal a try... It comes with pretty widgets that somewhat resemble Splanner's. If you're prefer it or some other Calendar App over Splanner, you can delete;SecCalendar_Q1_SPen.apk | SpPlannerAppWidget.apk (It will free up 20MB+ of RAM).

Hey i found my old Galaxy Note and thought i'd have a play around with it...
when i turned it on i had no signal, so i instantly checked my IMEI and yep, it was screwed. (nul/nul)
so i did some research to find ways to get my IMEI back and none have worked up to now...
so the last idea from a friend was to flash stock 2.3.6 to see if that brings back my IMEI.
It's worth a shot i guess. However i can't seem to find stock 2.3.6 anywhere! i've been looking for the past2 days lol.
SO! if anyone could help me out by linking me stock 2.3.6 i would be very grateful and it would help a ton!
Also, if you have any other idea's of how to fix my IMEI... feel free!

Forest-CM11: kernel

Features:
1.Add Philz Touch 6 recovery version 6.30.8 (CWM v6.0.4.8)
2.Disable all kernel debug and logging
3.Some minor optimizations of config file

For me it runs smoother, cooler and more battery friendly than stock version.
And you have the beautiful Philz Touch recovery which can also be used to flash any other KK roms.

Important note: it seems this kernel works for CM11 and other CM11 based rom. It doesn't work on some other KK roms.
- Working roms: CM11, PA, C-Rom, Carbon Rom and SOKP...will update.
- Not working Omni and Slim (for some reason IDK yet).
I have not tested with other KK roms.

Change Logs:
- V2: Just made more tweaks to the config file to further reduce heating. It now run cooler than V1.

Instruction:
Flash the kernel zip file in recovery and enjoy!
For balance performance and battery you may want to choose (my favorite) Governor/Scheduler: Pegasusq/Row

-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS-

- Make sure you are either on any KitKat ROM (CM11, etc) or on 4.2.2 TW based ROM and NOT on 4.1.2 TW based ROM
- Download the latest build
- Download Gapps
- Take a nandroid backup
- Recommended - Full wipe and factory reset
- Flash ROM using latest ClockworkMod recovery
- Flash Gapps
- Reboot.
- Enjoy!

- Download the latest build of Resurrection Remix ROM
- Take a nandroid backup
- Flash ROM using ClockworkMod recovery

- Wipe cache
- Wipe dalvik cache

-OTA UPDATES-

- You will get a notification on your phone when a new version of RR ROM is available. You can download the ROM on your phone through the OTA updater.
- For now, I have made the link to open in a browser as direct links for the ROM zip on file host might not work at times. I might change this to direct downloading of zips in the future.
- Full ROM will be downloaded, not a delta zip.
- I haven't tested flashing the ROM using the automated scripts in the OTA updater. Use them at your own risk. I advice you to open recovery manually and flash the ROM manually. If you do decide to test the OTA updater scripts and it works, share with the community.

IMPORTANT: If you come from another ROM, have some issues or want a really clean installation then follow the 'Extended steps to install the ROM' featured on the General FAQ

when you flash with odin on first boot it is supposed to apply the csc in the stock recovery
once in a while on all samsung phones it doesnt do it on first boot for some reason
and you get unknown csc with *#1234*
to save having to flash the whole rom again to fix it and writing around 2gb to nand
just flash the cache partition and it should apply the csc on first boot

How did Samsung partition the Note (N7000 16GB)?

FACTORYFS: Start:281MB End:1174MB Size:893MB

DATAFS: Start:1174MB End:3322MB Size:2147MB

UMS: Start:3322MB End:11.9GB Size:11.9GB

HIDDEN: Start:11.9GB End:15.8GB Size:537MB

As you can see, the DATAFS partition only has 2147MB, hardly enough for much games or resource heavy apps. e.g. Facebook (30~100MB) Spotify (100~300+MB), and so, we need much more space to store these apps.

People might redirect you to download .pit files and ODIN, but as always, using ODIN is, to say the least, quite risky. Well, this method does NOT require ODIN, cables or a computer!

Now that I've got everything clear, let's get into the juicy stuff...

What To Download?

• If your ROM does not use /preload to store any files, download the file with the tag (Non-Preload ROMs).
• Download Partition Table app from the Play Store and check /preload. If it has more than 100MB used, your ROM needs preload.
  
• If you need more apps than data (documents, music etc.), download the 10/11GB Data Partition files.
  
• If you need more data than apps, download the 9GB UMS Partition files.

How do I do this?

It's like flashing any ordinary zip file! Follow the steps to not brick your phone!

Your computer will not be needed for this guide!

1. Download Philz recovery. Use the latest stable version available. Check here.
   
2. Make a nandroid backup to your EXTERNAL SD CARD. Make sure this backup is working.
   
3. Flash Philz from recovery.
   
4. Flash the zip file. (Currently only 16GB model)
5. After rebooting to recovery (it's auto), you will see some mounting errors. Relax, nothing's wrong. Go into mounts and storage and format /system, /data, /sdcard0 and /preload. Do not format anything else.
   
6. Restore your nandroid/install a new ROM (You can flash your original recovery back now.)
   
7. $$$PROFIT$$$
