Installation Method:

If you are coming from any other ROM especially other than JB AOSP Roms, we recommend full wipe:

• Make sure to run CM9/10 or an AOSP-based ROM : FLASHING/WIPING FROM STOCK ICS OR ROMS BASED ON STOCK ICS WILL RESULT IN A BRICK! - You're warned!
• Wipe Data
• Wipe Cache Partition
• Mounts and Storage > Format System

Steps to be followed by all users:

• Download latest ROM build & Google Apps (from below links) on your SDCARD
• Reboot in Recovery - Make sure you are on CM9/CM10/AOSP-based ROM's recovery
• Mounts and Storage > Format System
• Flash Chimera
• Flash Gapps
• Reboot, ain't that simple?

Caution:

• Weather panel FC if you touch to update. To fix it select update in short click action. Looking to find how to make it default. The setting eludes me at this time.
• A new discovery. In System settings>navigation. Color settings don't work and could conflict. Use ROM Control to adjust the color.

Introducing Sweet ROM, a little side project of mine. I have cooked a few ROMS for myself though this is my first on XDA. I liked it and just wanted to share. I don't profess to know everything about cooking and modding but am enjoying myself learning.

• You may need to open SuperSU and update binaries to gain full root

Installation:
- Make sure you are on a rooted ICS-ROM or JB-ROM with CWM recovery and brickfree kernel installed.
- Copy GloryROM_LSA to your ExtSDCard.
- Boot to recovery mode.
- Do all three wipes (full wipe, cache wipe, dalvik cache wipe).
- Format /system, Format /data, Format /preload
- Flash GloryROM_LSA and wait till finish.. It will reboot automatically.
- Once boot into ROM, update SuperSU binaries.. Enjoy :cool:

LiteROMxxlsa is a minimalist, bare-bones ROM based on the XXLSA leak, deodexed by Eybee, with various fixes.

This ROM is NOT for casual, inexperienced users. This is a clean, super-lite offering meant for those who prefer to install their own apps. If you are new to Android or have just started flashing, you will probably not like this ROM. You have been warned :)

I've removed what I consider bloatware and most of the Samsung apps.

For those uninitiated, Asylum CM10 is a slim, debloated and fast CM10 based Rom. It had its two previous iterations:
the first one (ICS and JB) done by Anti, the second one (JB) by Jack the Ripper. Sadly, both of them petered out for
one reason or another. Asylum CM really grew on me, so I just had to ask Anti for permission to resurrect my first
love, and he said yes.:)

What does Asylum CM10 has to offer?

Unnecessary apps are chucked out, thus reducing the Rom size to 119 Mb only.
Everything is blacked out, no official CM10 grey.
Superuser is replaced by SuperSU.
Safe CM10 kernel and recovery with eMMC_CAP_ERASE disabled.
Performance tweaks
UI tweaks
Ad blocking hosts
Default DPI set to 240
Good battery life
Speed and smoothness
CM10 theming compatibility
No multi-widows, sadly


How do I flash it?

You must be on a safe kernel and recovery. If you are not sure, check this thread out to see which ones are safe!

If coming from official CM10 or JellyBeer:

1. drop into recovery
2. wipe cache and dalvik
3. flash the Rom
4. flash Gapps
5. reboob

If coming from any other Rom:

1. reboob to recovery
2. do a full wipe, including your posterior
3. flash the Rom
4. flash Gapps
5. reboob

Removed apps. You have to extract those you need, paste or push them to /system/app,
fix permissions so they are the same as the other apps in the folder and reboob. It is NOT a flashable zip.

Hello,

Sorry, not working like on sgs 3 and galaxy note 10.1. Dont apply now. I m working on a fix with vold.fstab, but format changes with jellybean.

Ported from scripts created originally for Galaxy S 3.
This script swaps internal and external sd storage from init.d.

- You must have a JellyBean Stock or Stock Based ROM
- Must be rooted to flash.

Attached to this post, you will find the CWM flashable zip.
This have zero chance to brick your device, but I cannot say if your SD card doesn't have any issues etc... so don't blame me for data loss or anything.

This script will NOT COPY DATA from your sd, so you will have missing data after you restart the phone.
The data is still on the original internal SD, so you'll have to copy it back to your bigger sdcard's root.

Only problem is, if you use usb mass storage connexion, instead of mtp, it will swap back sd cards.

If you want to remove the script, simply delete the file 11extsd2internalsd from /etc/init.d/ with root explorer or a similar app.

Restart the phone and the problem should disappear.
I'll look into a fix for this.

Strange stuff happenning after first reboot (app2sd make apps disappear). Removing file and placing warning back:)

as requested i made a stock ink effect mod for the users/devs not running my ROM.



So this is not for my ROM and for deodexed ROMs only !!!

Be sure your ROM makes useof the system partition for system apps so no preload ROMs

Finally i've decided to make a ROM completely for 240dpi instead of adding apps and people asking for how to's and where to's
This is for all the people preferring to stay with Touchwiz but want to use at 240dpi.

ROM base:
XXSLA (Thanks to eybee1970)
minimalist JellyBean TouchWiz (Thanks to burtcom)

Rom features:
PhilZ kernel 3.71
Bare minimum as minimalist rom
All the apps are 240dpi.
3 way reboot menu and call record mod
Multiwindow Hack for UNLIMITED apps
few tweaks from Ultimate rom V5
Statusbar transparent with toggles in blue and blue circle battery indicator
Clock app from Android 4.2 ( Clockpackage.apk has been removed since it takes more space and 240dpi mod is not yet done)
'accuweather.com' has been removed from lockscreen, widgets ets...
Full ripple effect and ink effect (Thanks to Robbie Hood)
TW Launcher has 9 screens and auto rotates...
Awesome beats installer is added, install if needed.
Snote, airview are working fine.
added CRT-OFF, but it doesn't work everytime :(

I've just edited the rom from burtcom, and the script is same, so you'll see you are installing his rom while flashing :)

Steps to install:

copy XXSLA_240_INK.zip on your SD/EXT Card
Restart in CWMR

Flash the ROM
Wait for some time until the phone boots...

Some early informations (will tell more in the evening):
Standards: Full Wipe, deodexed, zipaligned, deleted a lot of apps, moved some to /preload.
Philz Kernel for XXLSC

Size of zip: 504 MB

Use safe kernel for installation. Usual way: factory reset/full wipe, format /cache, /system, /data, /preload
And: your own risk, I'm no professional with Roms, this is my first Custom Rom for the N7000.

Hi folks,

we have some lucky users among us with a generic (Dev) IMEI - some of these are able to get OTA updates, thought for testusers and/or developers from Samsung, after they install latest Test firmware XXLSA from sammobile....some got updates up to XXLSC and already provided a dump. Others got updates up to XXLSD (and maybe higher in future - who knows, where the journey ends...), but don't know what to do to share this firmware with us 'Flashaholics' here on xda and other forums...

Now, as more and more people asking me (why ever me...) how to make a system dump from Stock Firmware, I decided to write a short 'HowTo for Dummies'. So if you know about someone, who has a unknown Test Firmware installed, or YOU are the chosen one, just follow this tutorial and make us happy ;)

This is just one way of several to do this - but as I think, it is the easiest way for newbies (without having to use Android SDK and adb shell on PC --> that's what experienced would do ;))

Prerequisites:

- at least 1,4 GB free space on internal SDcard
- a brain (and above 80 IQ-points...)!!!!! ;)


Step 1) Rooting your Stock Firmware (thx to Phil for the steps, I just copy/pasted them) --> if you already have Root + busybox installed, go to Step 2) directly

• download this Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip and this cwm-non-touch-6.0.1.4-i9100.zip

• Put the previously downloaded cwm-non-touch-6.0.x.x-i9100.zip file on your external sd card

• Copy the Root_XXX.zip file you downloaded to internal or external sd card

• Boot into stock recovery (volume up+home+power), and select "apply update from external storage". Now select the cwm-non-touch-6.x.x.x-i9100.zip file you copied in previous step (this step gives a temporary flash that will disappear after reboot)

• You get CWM recovery interface (this custom recovery is temporary, not permanent)

• Inside CWM, select "install zip from sdcard". Then, select "choose zip from sdcard". Now, scroll down to the "Root_XXX.zip" file and hit power button to install it.

• It will add SuperSU or Superuser last version apk to system/app, last superuser binary (su) to system/xbin and busybox last version to system/xbin, all with correct file permissions.

Reboot and you get permanent root + busybox installed on your stock kernel.
(You can easily unroot your device afterwards...it is also described in Phils thread, where I took all these from: [20 Sep 2012][ICS]Universal Rooting for most ICS phones, Any ROM, now with CWM6 )


Step 2) Making a complete System Dump of Stock Firmware:

• Install 'Terminal Emulator' from Playstore
• Open Terminal Emulator
• type 'su' with your internal keyboard and press return button
• grant Superuser access on upcoming popup window
• now type the following line and press return button after finished typing:

==> this will generate 'modem.bin' (= Modem) on your internal SDcard (will be finished after a few seconds)

• now type the following line and press return button after finished typing:

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 of=/sdcard/zImage

==> this will generate 'zImage' (= Kernel) on your internal SDcard (will be finished after a few seconds)

• now type the following line and press return button after finished typing:

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12 of=/sdcard/hidden.img

==> this will generate 'hidden.img' (= preload partition) on your internal SDcard (will be finished after a few minutes, as it is more then 300 mb!)

• now type the following line and press return button after finished typing:

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9 of=/sdcard/factoryfs.img

---

==> this will generate 'factoryfs.img' (= system partition) on your internal SDcard (will be finished after a few minutes, as it is more then 800 mb!)


Now you have the following output / files on your internal SDcard:

• modem.bin
• zImage
• hidden.img
• factoryfs.img

==> zip these 4 together and upload them to a hoster ==> post the link here and devs can start building a new ROM (Stock + CustomROMs) and kernel devs (now we luckily have Phil for that) can preroot the kernel + put in CWM recovery.

That's all and really very very easy....:cowboy:

Hi folks,

an other very short tutorial for the people (cooks), who do not know how to use the preload (hidden) partition and symlink system apps to it.

Some basics on preload-partition and why you should use it:

We have the so called 'hidden/preload partition' (mmcblk0p12) on our device. Besides the system partition with around 840 mb space, this hidden partition has additional 500 mb...this 500 mb were thought from sammy in the beginning mainly for their own crap like gamehub apps or learning hub and so on. But as system partition is on the edge right now with jelly bean they also use it for placing system apps inside --> the reason is that 840 mb in system is far to less for all files!

Usually most cooks just transfered system apps to data partition (located on your usb storage) to get out of this mess. This method with using hidden partition just gives great opportunity to keep your system partition smaller and you can transfer apps to it which you can not move to data! Your device will probably also perform faster with less space used inside system-partition. Our kernel dev Phil also made it possible now to backup/restore preload-partition within nandroid on his newer CWM-recoveries --> so now you can do a full backup/restore including this preload-partition....before it was not possible!

How to symlink system-apps to preload-partition:

just take the app 'Notepad++' (google for it) on your PC/Laptop, open it, create a new file and put the following inside ('nameofapp.apk' is just an example for any app you wanna symlink):

save and close as 'nameofapp.apk' --> this is the one to put inside /system/app to symlink to the original one you put inside /preload/symlink/system/app.

Now do this steps with every system app you wanna symlink...

This is the manual way to this, though I know scripts can be used to do these steps automatically...;) But this way you at least get a basic understanding how it works!

I won't tell you how to push apps to preload-partition inside CWM-flashable ROM in general, cause this is basic knowledge when you wanna cook a ROM - but you could download any ROM already using this method and look inside 'META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script' and you will know how to do this. ;)
